A Danville organization is now facing a housing shortage for their Section 8 program. The Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority is dealing with a shortage of available housing for its Housing Choice Voucher program, so now they are looking to purchase properties and to encourage landlords to increase available housing. They say increased demand for rental units in the Danville and Martinsville areas is driving the current shortage. The agency is also looking for landlords who would be willing to rent under the program. For the current fiscal year, the group has about $7.3 million in funding available for landlords via its Housing Choice Voucher program.
