Pittsylvania County is getting a pair of electric school buses under the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality’s Clean School Bus Program. According to the Alta Vista Journal the commonwealth has allocated nearly $25 million to the program which will replace more than 70 diesel-powered buses in 17 divisions with electric and propane powered transporters. The money comes from Virginias’s settlement with Volkswagen over its falsifying fuel economy figures for its diesel-powered vehicles.
