The Danville Utilities project to upgrade its electrical substations is nearing completion. The Star-Tribune reports work is finished at the Kentuck and Whitmell substations and crews are now working at the Westover and Southside substations. Utility Director Jason Gray told the Danville Utility Commission the upgrades should be completed by August and September. Gray says some of the replaced equipment was nearly 50 years old. The utility serves around 46,000 customers.
