The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve $1.35 million in contracts for engineering and design work related to the rehabilitation of two Cherrystone Creek dams known as the Cherrystone and Roaring Fork dams. These costs are being covered by grants from the Federal government. Rehabilitation is required due to State and Federal regulations regarding emergency auxillary spillways. Several different studies and analyses have been done over the past three years to evaluate potential design options.
