A company hired by Pittsylvania County to conduct property value assessments begins its work today. The company is Pearson’s Appraisal Service, Inc. and the reassessment team will be driving clearly marked vehicles with appropriate signage as well as carrying photo identification. Appraisers will also be taking exterior pictures and making measurements. Virginia law mandates that each locality periodically perform a reassessment to determine each property’s fair market value and to equalize each property’s value in relation to similar properties.
