A pharmacist from Danville is paying a $310,000 fine to resolve federal accusations that he submitted false bills from his business to Medicare and Medicaid. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia Jacob Patterson filed the false claims through Piedmont Infusion Services between 2013 and 2018. Piedmont also double-billed Medicare for unspecified medications. Prosecutors say a former Piedmont employee was a whistleblower and assisted in the investigation.
