The first Industrial tenant has broken ground in the Gretna Industrial Park. Tradesman Trucking is investing $4.5 million in phase one of a two-step project that will bring job creation to Pittsylvania County. The 22,500 square foot facility will bring with it 30 jobs to the region. Tradesman Trucking has been active in the area as a primary transport partner with Yankee Candle’s Blairs and Forest facilities but has been steadily expanding their freight services to a variety of markets. This new facility according to a press release from the County, will house both Tradesman Trucking and Tradesman XDR as a recycling yard operation, offering office space and serving as the new headquarters for both businesses. The facility will also offer leased warehouse space, concentrating on dry goods for some of the trucking company’s existing clients. Due to anticipated demand discussions about an adjoining property and 25,00 square foot building are already underway making the project a potential $6.5 million investment in Pittsylvania County. Tradesman Trucking Managing Partner James Garner said of the move, “Our primary goal in this relocation to Gretna is to enter as a member, serve as a neighbor, and co-labor to build and grow this community that we have already become so fond of. When you choose a location for business, you are also choosing a community, and as such we believe that the community we are located in should both be supported by us and support us. We feel that the people of Gretna will make excellent neighbors as they are like-minded, hard-working folks.”
