A Danville man was killed in a motor vehicle accident in the 2100 block of West Main Street on Friday morning. At 7:00 Alvin Richardson, 52, was driving his moped eastbound and was struck by a vehicle.

Richardson was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, but succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the crash. Trevontae Hereford, 25, was identified as the driver of the vehicle.

The Danville Police Department is conferring with the Commonwealth’s Attorney regarding potential charges.
