Governor Glen Youngkin has declared a State of Emergency for Virginia in anticipation of the impacts of Tropical Storm Ian. The State of Emergency allows the commonwealth to mobilize resources and equipment needed for response and recovery efforts.
Virginians should be prepared for the potential of severe rainfall, flooding, wind damage, tornadoes, and other storm-related impacts. Ian hit the west coast of Florida on Wednesday evening as a category four storm and has caused major damage. Ian is expected to bring two to four inches of rain and wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph to the southside starting on Friday.
