The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) will welcome Governor Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday to recognize the opening of the IALR’s new Center for Manufacturing Advancement (CMA), which will promote collaboration among advanced manufacturers to innovate process, quality, and technologies.
The announcement of the CMA at 8:30 a.m. will precede a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon during which the
CMA’s first occupied tenant space will be unveiled – supporting the scale and activation of advanced technology.
Details on the mission of the new space, as well as an announcement of new economic investments will be made
in remarks.
The ceremony will take place during the two-day ATDM (Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing) Summit
which convenes federal, state, local, and industry stakeholders on topics pertaining to closing skills and workforce
gaps within the defense industrial base. The program was developed as a prototype training platform for rapidly
skilling workers in key trades supporting the nation’s submarine industrial base.
