Unemployment rates improved across the southside in September according to the latest numbers from the Virginia Employment Commission. In Danville the unemployment rated improved from 5.3% in August to 4.5%, while in Pittsylvania County rate went from 3.2% to 2.6%.
In Halifax County the rate improved from 4.0% to 3.2%. In Martinsville the number went from 5.5% to 4.7% and in Henry County from 4.0% to 3.2%. Across the State the unemployment rate remained steady at 2.6%, which is better than the national average of 3.5%.
