University of Virginia football players D’Sean Perry, Lavel Davis Jr., and Devin Chandler have been confirmed as the three that were killed by a gunman Sunday night on the schools campus. According to the Daily Progress, UVA President Jim Ryan confirmed the news on Monday morning.
Two other people were also injured in the shooting and police are still searching for the suspect who has been identified as former UVA football player, Christopher Darnell Jones.
A shelter in place order is still in effect for the school. The shooting occurred at the Culbreth Garage on Central Grounds at around 10:40 pm.
Jones is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket, blue jeans and red shoes. He might be driving a black SUV with Virginia tags that read TWX3580. Jones was listed as a football player on the schools athletic website in 2018 and it is unclear if he’s still a student at the school.
Perry played linebacker for Virginia and was in his junior season. He’s originally from Miami, FL according to the team website. Davis Jr. played wide receiver and was a junior from Dorchester, SC. Chandler is originally from Huntersville, NC and was in his first year at UVA after transferring from Wisconsin.
