Virginia has been hit hard recently with two tragic mass shootings. The first at the University of Virginia that killed three football players and the second at a Walmart in Chesapeake that killed six.

Virginia U.S. Senator Tim Kaine noted yesterday that there was a similarity between the two shootings and the recent shooting in Colorado Springs and discussed how that could be addressed.

“There were warning signs about the person who committed these horrible crimes,” said Kaine, “I know that sometimes people will see something that’s a warning sign and they’ll think ‘no I don’t know, I don’t want to overreact, I don’t even know who I could go to about this’, and people have a lot of confusion they’ll see a warning sign but aren’t really sure what to do with it. We need to create mechanisms on campuses, within workforce’s, within society, and generally where you can take a warning sign if you think there is one.”

Kaine said that his staff is working to see if they can find a solution.
