Our WBTM/Danville Dental Associates Citizen of the Month is Jeanne Hearn. Letter submitted by her daughter-in-law…Karen Hearn.
I would love to nominate my beloved, soon to be, 94 year young mother-in-law, Mrs. Jeanne Hearn of Chatham. Jeanne has always been a go-getter, and truly has a heart for the people in our community. As a minister’s wife, she often took care of the behind the scenes activities for Greenbay Christian Church, Climax Ruritan Club, and the Northern Pittsylvania Co. Food Bank. She has also been a shining example of the “can do” attitude of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. At 93, Jeanne still volunteers, and continues to help me in my civic duties and projects.
What makes Jeanne so special? One thing, she and her late husband, Minister Rudy Hearn, adopted two children of their extended family members and raised them as their own. She and her late husband also helped total strangers with food and housing over the years. Jeanne, among her many talents, is also a published author. She still continues to perform regular maintenance on her old riding lawnmower…and at age 85, she helped lay the laminate flooring in our home. She is an amazing, remarkable woman and truly deserves to be recognized for all of her volunteer work for hundreds of projects throughout Pittsylvania Co. Not only is she my beloved mother-in-law, she’s also my cheerleader in life! Whenever I feel defeated, she always gives me the “pep talk” and reminds me of my ultimate goal and to carry on!
I don’t believe she has ever met a stranger, as she gets along with everyone! She is often heard saying…”the people of Pittsylvania Co. are beautiful inside and out, and that true beauty comes from within!” As a two time cancer survivor, she is a shining example of determination, and has a true belief in helping others.
Karen your mother-in-law is quite the shining example, and truly deserves to be our next WBTM/Danville Dental Associates Citizen of the Month!
