RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia says he’s seeking reelection next year. Kaine was the 2016 Democratic vice presidential nominee and has been a fixture in Virginia politics for decades. Kaine said Friday he loves Virginia and is proud of what he’s accomplished. Kaine’s plan to run will likely ease Democratic worries about holding onto the seat in a state now led by a Republican governor, Glenn Youngkin. Kaine will enter the Senate race for a third term as the early favorite in a must-hold seat for Democrats facing a tough Senate map in 2024. Kaine is a former Virginia governor and lieutenant governor.
