A fire on Monday morning in Danville killed a family pet. The Danville Fire Department responded to the fire at 6:30 am on Arlinton Road.

According to the department, a family dog died in the fire, but the other occupants of the home are safe. A grandfather, grandmother, mom, and two children were able to escape unharmed with at least two of them having to jump from a second-story window.

The fire caused major damage to the home, including causing the roof to collapse. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
