Danville native and Buffalo Bills star linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is set to test NFL free agency when it begins on March 15. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Edmunds is expected to leave the Bills in free agency for another team.
The Bills are currently $18 million over the salary cap, which could make it difficult to re-sign Edmunds. Buffalo also has safety Jordan Poyer and running back Devin Singletary hitting free agency as well.
Bleacher Report has projected that Edmunds could land a four-year $50 million contract in free agency. CBS Sports has suggested that the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, and Houston Texans could all be possible suitors for the linebacker.
Edmunds has spent the first five seasons of his career with the Bills after being selected 16th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s recorded 565 total tackles and 32 tackles for loss during his first five seasons.
