Several Danville residents are being kicked out of their apartments without much notice. According to WSET, residents at Stratford Manor Apartments had been hearing for about a week that evictions were possible and then received a notice on Friday that they had to be out by April 10.

Some even had their utilities halted and have reported locks on the laundry rooms and threats of having the power turned off. According to Virginia Legal Aid and the City of Danville this would be illegal.

The apartments are owned by Riverside Property LLC, who reportedly purchased the apartments in December. WSET says they reached out to the company for comment but haven’t received an answer. This news comes as there is currently a housing shortage in Danville.
