Virginia State Police is investigating a two-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality on Monday in Pittsylvania County.  The crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. on Franklin Turnpike, at the intersection of Jeanette Drive.

A 2021 GMC Failed to Yield the Right-of-Way while making a left turn onto Franklin Turnpike, and was struck by 2011 Ford Fusion.

The Ford was driven by Lewis Lee Myers, 76, of Chatham. Myers was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to SOVAH Health in Danville, where he later died.

The driver of the GMC was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
