One person was killed and two more were injured in a Halifax County crash on Tuesday. At 3:29 pm on Tuesday, Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 360 and Terry’s Bridge Rd.
A 2005 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling south on Terry’s Bridge Rd. As it crossed over Route 360, it traveled into the path of an eastbound 1974 Ford F700 dump truck. The Ford couldn’t avoid hitting the Pontiac. The impact of the crash caused the Pontiac to spin into the median and the Ford to continue off the right side of Route 360 and overturn.
The driver of the Pontiac, Deidra Galbraith, 54, of Halifax, was transported for treatment of minor injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger in the Pontiac, Donald W. Browning, 63, of Halifax, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Ford, Albert J. Duffey, 73, of Clover, was transported for treatment of minor injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt. Charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
