A man was arrested in Mecklenburg yesterday for allegedly using counterfeit bills at 28 Walmart locations along the east coast. Officers arrested Malcolm Jamal Mckinney, after an investigation from the Amherst County Sheriff’s office that stemmed from an incident at a Walmart in Madison Heights on Monday.
McKinney allegedly used counterfeit bills in 39 incidents at 28 Walmart locations between Maryland and South Carolina. The incidents totaled a loss of over $63,000 in merchandise for the stores between November and March.
McKinney has been charged with ten felony counts for uttering false bills, one felony count of obtaining merchandise under false pretense, and one misdemeanor account of obtaining money under false pretense.
