Broadcasters from Virginia and West Virginia gathered at The Greenbrier Resort on Saturday for the annual Associated Press of the Virginias Broadcaster Awards. In total WBTM and WAKG brought home ten awards from the event.

Ginyah Woods brought home first and second place for best website for WAKG and WBTM. Jon Talbott won first place best station promo for his “Meet Ryan Stone” promo.

Josh Lineberry won first place for best one-on-one interview for an interview on the DCC job fair with Barry Mayo. Josh also brought home second place for best light feature for his news story on the new Danville Police Department headquarters.

Ryan Stone won first place for  best sports play-by-play for the final seconds of the Harry Johnson Holiday Classic Championship game between GW and Tunstall. Stone also won first place for best multi-platform story for “Danville Economic Development and Tourism Study.” He also won second place for best continuing news story for “Board of Supervisors Turmoil.”

Barry Richmond took home second place in the best serious feature for “Nascar Noise-Joe Gibbs.”

The WBTM Sports team of Stone, Lineberry, and Brandon Burnett came in second place for best sports operation of the Virginias. The WBTM News team of Stone and Lineberry also brought home second for best news operation of the Virginias.
