A man has been arrested after shooting a senior woman in Pittsylvania County. According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, at 1:30 pm on Saturday the woman saw a man walking across her yard in the 100 block of Glenn Brown Road.
When the woman opened the door to ask the man a question he began shooting at her. The woman was hit with one bullet and was taken to the closest trauma center for treatment.
With the support of people in the community providing vital information, 19-year-old Tyheim Hanks, of Java, was arrested at 7:00 pm on Saturday. Hanks was arrested on Yeatts Store Road and charged with felony assault, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed weapon without a concealed carry permit.
Hanks remains in jail under no bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled in Pittsylvania County’s General District Court at 10:00 am on May 30. Investigators continue to investigate the incident.
