Last night the Danville City Council issued a proclamation that April 4 will now be Lawrence G. Campbell Sr. Day in the city. Apostle Campbell passed away on March 27. He co-founded bibleway cathedral church in Danville and was a civil rights leader in the city.
Councilman Larry Campbell shared his appreciation for the city’s support since Apostle Campbell’s death.
“It gives me honor to stand here today and say, I thank the City of Danville for your love,” said Campbell, “Chief Booth for the police service in reference to those occasions, the love that was poured out to my family, and to the community for the food, care, and love for a great man. The fight is not over and we must continue to move forward.”
The rest of the council and city leaders also shared their thoughts and memories of Apostle Campbell during the meeting.
