Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital announced yesterday that they will begin phasing out services at the hospital for care of women during pregnancy in childbirth in May
Sentara Halifax says the phasing out is due to the decrease in births in recent years. The hospital says that deliveries have dropped 33% over the last five years and they anticipate that the trend will continue.
The hospital said that those expected to deliver before August 4th will be contacted to arrange continued services. While those expected to deliver after August 4th will be contacted to help assist transitioning them to other regional providers.
