A 19-year-old Danville man has pleaded guilty to second degree murder for a 2022 homicide. Mart’e Wi-shownn Oliver plead guilty in court on Wednesday to second degree murder (amended from first degree).
Oliver also plead guilty to robbery causing serious bodily injury or death; use of a Firearm in the commission of a murder; and possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon.
The murder happened in the 300 Block of Halifax Street on August 16. When police responded to the scene they found 33-year-old Patrick Duffy suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died from his injuries.
A 14-year-old has been charged with first degree murder in connection to the death. Oliver was arrested in December in Gretna. His sentencing is scheduled for August 4.
