Danville Police Department investigators have charged one person following a shooting incident that occurred near the basketball courts at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Northmont Boulevard on Sunday and have also identified persons of interest.
Police are currently seeking Jonathan Lamont Warren, 40, who is charged with second offense concealed weapon, a felony charge.
Around 6:20 pm Sunday, officers responded to an altercation near the basketball courts and heard shots fired upon arrival. Those present at the basketball courts dispersed from the scene.
One person fleeing the scene suffered a leg injury while running away. That individual was not shot. Investigators at this time have no reason to believe anyone was struck by a bullet during the incident.
Additionally, this incident had no effect on the everyday operations of Johnson Elementary School, and remains under investigation.
