Last night the Danville City Council approved a rate adjustment for water and electric customers in the city. The average customer will see an average increase of $1.25 a month for water.

Electric rates will be based on consumption, meaning the higher consumers will see a decrease, while the lower consumers will see an increase.  The increases are based on the cost to provide service and were passed by a vote of 6-3.

The adjustments will go into effect on July 1.
