A Hurt Volunteer Fire Department truck was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday night while the department was on the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a bear. The department responded at 6:18 pm to a crash where a vehicle hit a bear.
While the department was on scene Engine 312 was hit in the rear by a vehicle at 6:56 pm. The accident caused US 29 southbound to shutdown.
The occupants of the vehicle that hit the fire truck suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Gretna Fire and Rescue donated Engine 223 to the Hurt Volunteer Fire Department while they wait for repairs.
