Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Halifax County. The crash occurred on Sunday at 8:17 pm on McGees Mill Rd, approximately 3 miles north of Mt. Carmel Rd.
A 2010 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling north on McGees Mill Rd when it encountered a southbound 2018 Ford F150 coming through a curve in the road. The Chevrolet swerved to the right to avoid the Ford, but then both vehicles ran off the road and collided in a field.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Gary L. Williams, 54, of Semora, N.C., died at the scene. Two female passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. One of the passengers was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. Williams and the other passenger were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Ford, John H. Price, 59, of Semora, N.C., was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt. A passenger, Chad S. Whitt, 31, of Semora, N.C., died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected.
Charges are pending, as the crash remains under investigation.
