The GW NJROTC program has been recognized as a top unit and awarded the Distinguished Unit Award for the 2022-23 school year. The “Soaring Eagles” rank in the top 20 among 60 units in Virginia, Maryland, DC and Delaware.
In order to become a distinguished unit, cadets of GW NJROTC had to submit all their accomplishments for the calendar year to the JROTC headquarters and demonstrate their skills through a successful drill and competition season. However, this award is not limited to just the competitive teams.
Every cadet in the unit contributed to this achievement through their leadership training, test scores, orientation trips, ROTC scholarship submissions, combined GPA, community service hours, school support hours, team participation, parades, leadership positions within the school, and Annual Inspection results. Everyone in the unit this year is authorized to wear the Distinguished Unit Ribbon.
