A wanted felon was injured in a crash during a police pursuit in Roxboro, NC early Wednesday morning. The pursuit that began in Roxboro ended in a single vehicle injury crash in Durham.
Police say, Anthony Williams, 21, of Durham, was driving in excess of 90 mph in a posted 45 mph zone, just before 4 am on Durham Road in Roxboro. When police attempted to stop Williams, they say he fled driving in excess of 115 mph during the pursuit.
The pursuit ended when police say Williams lost control of the vehicle, crossing the intersection of Midland Terrace and Camden Avenue in Durham. The vehicle flipped several times resulting in Williams being seriously injured. Police say they recovered a large amount of drugs, an AR-15 and a handgun.
Records showed that Williams was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant from Durham. Williams was also wanted in Martinsville for felony breaking and entering, abduction, brandishing a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and assault and battery.
Williams was transported to Duke in critical, but stable condition. Roxboro Police charged Williams with felony speed to elude, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving while license revoked.
