The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors last night recognized a Pittsylvania County woman that worked at the White House under seven presidents. July 11 in the county will now be known as Arlene Davis Day. July 11 is also her birthday.
Davis worked at the White House from 1967 to 1994 as a part of the cleaning staff. During her time at the White House, Davis worked under Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton.
Davis initially left school in the eighth grade and began cleaning houses to help support her family. Davis will also be recognized by Congressman Bob Good on the floor of Congress.
