The Danville Transit System would like to improve the public’s awareness of special transportation service that is available to seniors. The transit system operates door-to-door, reservation-based service for seniors Monday through Saturday from 4 am to 1 am, 21 hours per day.
Seniors are only requested to provide a voluntary fee for transportation service if the trip is eligible per office on aging
guidelines. Senior passengers can make reservations for service by calling 434-797-8994 or 434-799-5144 (Option 2), before 11 am the day before service is needed.
Transportation service provided includes medical trips, grocery-shopping trips, and occasional recreational trips. In addition, group transportation is provided to congregate meal sites and other sponsored program activities.
To qualify, the individual must be at least 60 years of age, live within the Danville city limits, and complete a one-time transportation intake form, which can be completed over the telephone by calling the transportation office.
