A Patrick County Sheriff’s Deputy heroically saved a child from drowning at a hotel earlier this week. According to Sheriff Dan Smith, Deputy Jesse Pickeral was recently on vacation and was in a hotel pool with his family when he noticed a motionless child at the bottom of the pool.
Pickeral swam to the bottom, recovered the child, and discovered that the child had no pulse. He performed CPR for several minutes, and the child regained a pulse and began to breath on his own. Local paramedics arrived and took the child to the hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
“Jesse doesn’t think he’s any kind of hero, as he gives credit to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for putting him in the right place at the right time to help the little boy,” Sheriff Dan Smith said in a Thursday news release.
Pickeral is a 10 year veteran of the sheriff’s office and serves on the department’s tactical response team. He is currently assigned as a school resource officer at Patrick Springs Elementary School.
Praise GOD that He placed you in this GOD is good, all the time, and it was in GOD’S plan, for this child to survive!
