The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of a deputy. In a Facebook post on Friday, the office reported that Deputy Roy Lineberry lost his battle with cancer.

“It is with great sadness that the Henry County Sheriff’s Office shares the news of the passing of Henry County Deputy Roy Lineberry. Deputy Lineberry lost his battle with cancer on June 29, 2023, while surrounded by his family at his home. Deputy Lineberry was dedicated to the Henry County Community and continued serving his community even during treatment. Deputy Lineberry began his career with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office as an Auxiliary Deputy from January of 2017 through May of 2021. Roy then joined the sheriff’s office full-time in June of 2021 until he retired in April of 2023. During his time with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Roy served in the Corrections Division, Court Security, and Inmate Workforce. Before coming to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Roy worked for the Martinsville Sheriff’s Office and served the citizens of Martinsville.”
“Deputy Lineberry enjoyed working with his fellow deputies but also working with his workforce; mentoring and creating bonds to help better lives in the Henry County community. Deputy Lineberry will be remembered for his selfless service and his devotion to his fellow deputies, citizens, and inmates during his career, and will forever be a role model and example of professionalism in our agency. Deputy Roy Lineberry leaves behind his wife, daughter, sons, and many friends and co-workers. Please keep the Lineberry family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said in the post.
