A single-vehicle crash in Halifax County on June 30 killed a Brookneal man. The accident occurred just before 9:30 pm on Route 40/Stage Coach Road less than a mile east of Perth Road.

The driver was traveling west on Route 40 in a Dodge Ram when the truck crossed the centerline, overcorrected, ran off the right side of the road and overturned.

The passenger in the vehicle, Howard K. Hendricks, 22, was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
