Human remains found by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on June 23 were identified on Wednesday. On June 23, 2023, at approximately 3:05 pm, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call of possible human remains in a home’s crawl space area.
Deputies responded to the house located on John Redd Blvd., in Collinsville. Upon arrival, they discovered the remains inside an exterior-covered crawl space entry.
On July 12, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner positively identified the remains through the use of DNA analysis. The remains were identified as Austin Lane Mabry, 30, of Jarrett Drive, in Bassett.
The preliminary autopsy results showed no apparent signs of foul play. The completed autopsy report is pending additional testing to determine the cause and manner of death.
