A Greensboro man is wanted following a shooting in Martinsville on Sunday. At approximately 10:48 am, the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center received a call regarding a person who was shot at 625 Price Hairston Lane, Martinsville.
Deputies and investigators from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located Michael DeAngelo Hairston, 31, with a gunshot wound to his hand. Deputies immediately began administering first aid to the victim.
The victim was alert and able to communicate with responding deputies. Hairston was transported to SOVAH Health Martinsville, where he was treated and released.
Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that James Hylton IV went to the victim’s home and knocked on the door. When the victim went to open the door of his residence, he observed James Hylton IV standing outside with a handgun. Hylton IV then fired multiple rounds at the victim. The victim was struck once in the hand.
Hylton IV of Greensboro, NC is currently wanted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for the following charges:
• Malicious wounding
• Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
• Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
• Discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling
As investigators processed the scene for evidence, they located approximately one kilogram of methamphetamine and a small quantity of cocaine. Four handguns were also found at the scene that were collected with the illegal narcotics.
This matter remains under investigation, and additional charges are anticipated in regard to this ongoing investigation.

The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
