The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about phone scams that are impacting the area. According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, the calls consist of stating that you missed jury duty and unless you pay $500 (or similar amounts) that you will be arrested.

The caller is saying his name is Lt. Stevie Salmon with the sheriff’s office and gives a phone number of 434-233-9487. Residents who receive a call like this are asked to contact the E911 dispatch office at 434-476-3334 and report immediately.
