Today is the first day of school for Pittsylvania County Public Schools. During last nights school board meeting Superintendent Dr. Mark Jones praised Pittsylvania County teachers and staff.
“While teachers have a ten month kind of contract, they are surely working 12 months a year, so we greatly appreciate their good work, and our staff is what makes Pittsylvania County Schools a good place to learn and work. Just going back and looking at the summer and what all we have accomplished this summer, whether it’s maintenance or whether it’s summer school or whether it’s the regional governor school that we host or it’s the regional governor school that we send our children to, summer school graduation, you know a lot goes on,” said Jones.
To kick off the new school year Pittsylvania County Schools has launched a new website and app.
The new app will allow parents to select their child’s school and view news stories from their school and the district. The app will also have easy access to information like menus, calendars, athletic schedules, and social media links.
The PCS app is currently available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. To view the new website head to www.pcs.k12.va.us.
