The Kentuck Volunteer Fire Department will no longer offer emergency medical services. The Virginia Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services informed Pittsylvania County, that the Kentuck Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service license has expired and was not renewed by the Commonwealth.
As a result, Kentuck will no longer provide EMS services, but will continue to respond to fire and fire-related calls for service. Kentuck plans to re-apply for the license as soon as all state requirements are met.
As this issue is being addressed, Ringgold and Blairs Fire and Rescue Departments will respond to EMS calls and transport as needed, with County Public Safety Staff serving as back-up responders as well, so that medical 911 service will be maintained.
