Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal crash in Halifax County. The crash occurred Sept. 18, at 8:50 am at the intersection of Route 501 and Liberty Rd.

A 2012 Honda Accord was traveling west on Liberty Rd. as it approached the intersection with L.P. Bailey Memorial Highway. The Honda failed to stop for the posted stop sign and pulled across the northbound lanes of LP Bailey Memorial Highway and into the path of a 2014 Nissan Maxima. The Maxima was unable to avoid striking the Honda, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The driver of the Honda, Sandra M. Lynn, 75, of Nathalie, Va., was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. She was wearing a seat belt.

The Honda’s passenger, Salina E. Miller, 47, of Nathalie, Va., died at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt. A second passenger, a 43-year-old female was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Nissan, an 18-year-old female from Nathalie, Va., was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
