The Danville Redevelopment & Housing Authority (DRHA) will now administer the Continuum of Care (CoC) program. The CoC is a federally appointed program that uses local housing and governmental agencies to provide rapid rehousing of homeless families and individuals. Working with STEP, Incorporated who was the lead agency, DRHA is ready to receive referrals for those who are seeking homeless services.
Once families or individuals are referred to the CoC program, the first step is to get them housed and then help them through a selection of supportive services. The end goal of the program and services is to help homeless families and individuals to become fully self-sufficient.
Managing the CoC is just another tool in DRHA’s toolbox to further help the community thrive. CEO and Executive Director of DRHA stated, “It is an honor for DRHA to be selected to administer this program. The DRHA staff and Board of Commissioners are passionate about assisting those who are housing insecure, and this selection goes hand in hand with the other great programs that we offer.”
Service areas are the cities of Danville and Martinsville, as well as Pittsylvania, Henry, Patrick, and Franklin Counties. Agencies who work with the homeless population will be able to refer them to our Resident Services team. More information about the CoC can be found on www.DRHAVA.com or by reaching out to Keowa Bradley, Director of Resident Service, at kbradley@drhava.com or Victoria Stone, Continuum of Care Coordinator, at vstone@drhava.com.
