The Danville Police Department and One Community will hold a class Thursday, Nov. 2, from 5-6 p.m. for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer.
One Community Volunteers will help with events around Danville and at the police department. Created due to the need for assistance, the department originally depended on Community Engagement Specialists made up of a team of men and women who were waiting to go the academy. Before the inception of this program, there was little in the way of opportunity for volunteerism with the department.
Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age
• A citizen of the United States or proof of legal residency
• Local resident
• Mature, responsible, enthusiastic
• Communicate well
• Work a minimum of 8 hours each month
• Work cooperatively as part of a team
• Maintain strict confidentiality
• Comply with uniform dress code
• Operate under and recognize chain of command

  1. What a fucking joke. Just like ROTC on college campuses. There are not too many people who want to be the police so they had to lower the standards to become one and that’s bad.
