Gretna Fire and Rescue saved one person from an apartment fire early Saturday morning. When crew 221 arrived they saw fire coming from the left side of the structure.

Firefighters forced entry into the structure and performed a search before advancing a hose line into the structure and executing a fire attack.

The fire was contained to the apartment it started in. The 20 occupants of the building have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. Gretna Fire and Rescue was assisted by the Hurt Volunteer Fire Department, Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, Climax Volunteer Fire Department, Blair’s Fire & Rescue, Pittsylvania County Public Safety Medic 1 & Medic 2, and PS2.
