Manufacturing Company Morgan Olson filed a warning notice with the state on Monday that says the company will layoff 435 employees by December 22. The news comes as the company is laying off employees at all three locations in Virginia, Michigan, and Tennessee.
Morgan Olson issued a statement about the layoffs earlier this week.
Customers have recently communicated to Morgan Olson that new vehicle purchase orders will be delayed due to the current economic conditions and forecasts. As a result, Morgan Olson will reduce their workforce at all three Morgan Olson locations in Michigan, Tennessee, and Virginia. Ongoing production will continue at all locations as the company works towards expanding its customer base and preparing for market recovery.
The company announced in 2019 that they were establishing a walk-in step van assembly plant at the former IKEA plant in Ringgold. The facility was supposed to create 703 jobs.
In October 2022, Morgan Olson announced they had received a The Port of Virginia’s Economic and Infrastructure Development Grant Fund for the 500-plus new full-time jobs the company had created at the Ringgold plant.
