A Martinsville man has been arrested following a larceny at the Figsboro General Store on Sunday. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a robbery call and it was discovered that a larceny had occurred.

A former employee had entered the store and stolen a money box from behind the counter.

The suspect was identified as Jacob Andrew Martin, 25, of 21 Dog Patch Lane, Martinsville, Virginia. The owner of Figsboro General Store reported that Martin was a previous employee and had stolen $240.00 from the same money box while still employed.

After stealing the money box, Martin fled on foot and was found a short time later hiding under the porch of his residence on Dog Patch Lane. He was taken into custody without incident.

Martin was charged with one count of larceny from this incident and one count of embezzlement from the previous incident. He is currently held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
