The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors (Board) approved a resolution honoring the first responders to the NorthPointe Apartments fire at its November 29 business meeting.
The fire, which occurred in the early morning hours of November 12, triggered what is known as a “County-wide call for assistance,” with the Blairs Fire and Rescue Department first on the scene. The City of Danville also assisted. Blairs, in collaboration with neighboring fire departments, promptly and efficiently responded to the fire, demonstrating professionalism, courage, and exemplary teamwork in rescuing the residents and containing and extinguishing the blaze.
The swift action and bravery displayed by County volunteer firefighters in containing and extinguishing the fire undoubtedly prevented further damage and ensured the safety of the residents and the surrounding community. There were no fatalities.
Volunteers and first responders throughout the County and Danville gave their time to help ensure the evacuees were rescued, sheltered, clothed, fed, and emotionally comforted through this traumatic event.
Individuals throughout the County and Danville responded with an outpouring of support for the victims of the fire.
