One person was killed and a small dog was rescued in a Danville house fire early Sunday morning. The Danville Fire Dept. responded to a reported structure fire at 5:25 am at 129 Schoolfield Dr.  

Upon arrival firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home.  Fire extinguishment began as the other units were arriving.  Entry was made into the home where one victim was located in the front bedroom.  The Victim was removed to the outside and assessed but determined to be deceased.  

One small dog was also located inside the home and brought outside and received medical treatment. .The  Danville Fire Marshal’s office also responded to the scene and later determined the cause of the fire to be discarded smoking materials.
